NewACTSE (Adequate Compensation for Texas State Employees) will provide information on state employee pay that stems from a PAC (Political Action Committee) that I creased in 1999 to lobby for a pay raise to address the well documented shortcoming in State employee compensation. ACTSE's purpose is to better inform the Texas Legislature of actions that should be undertaken to remedy the significant loss in real earnings that State employees have experienced over the past 5 years.
I came across a letter, that the executive directors of the major state agencies sent to the state's leadership in 1998 supporting a pay raise for state employees. Has today's leadership done this?
ACTSE has a goal to raise sufficient resources so that the 2001 Legislature is fully informed and convinced that providing State employees an adequate pay raise is in the long-term interests of the State. We can succeed if enough employees INVEST 1 percent of next year's pay raise in this undertaking. Your $12 (1% x $1,200) investment will be used to educate both the public and the Legislature why providing adequate compensation to State employees is for the long-term benefit of the State.
